Week 6 - Facebook Business Page - Reach vs Engagement

Page views are the number of times your Page's PROFILE has been viewed by people, including people who are logged into Facebook and those who aren't.

Post reach is the number of unique people who saw any of your Page POSTS. Reach can be broken down into paid (with advertising),  organic (without advertising) or viral (mentioned from a story published by a friend.)  Total reach is the number of unique people who saw your posts, regardless of where they saw it. The picture to the right is from my own page.

Facebook post engagement is how many people interacted with your posts, by clicking on a link, liking your post, leaving comments, or feedback. People cannot engage unless they are reached first. To me, having someone engage means that your post was interesting or useful enough for them to actually take some kind of action, even if it is just to like the post.

Insights can provide a great deal of useful information. It can tell who your fans are; whater they are male or female, what age they are, where they are located and what language they speak. Insights can tell you when your fans are online, and how your paid ads are performing. With that information you can target you next ads more efficiently.

According to the graph on the left 75% of my fans are women and of them the highest age group is 65+. I have been targeting women in the 30-45 year age group. What useful information to have!
